This silk scarf is a cultural collage rendered on fabric, blending Lebanese postage stamps with Arabic calligraphy and artistic motifs. The base features stamps in varied denominations, depicting children at play, traditional costumes, and fruits such as pears, each carrying heritage imagery. Overlaid across this patchwork are black calligraphic figures resembling whirling dervishes, their forms stylized in flowing Arabic script.
In the upper corner, bold red calligraphy spells “?????” (Beirut), anchoring the piece in place and identity. The composition transforms the scarf into a narrative textile, where postal imagery symbolizes exchange and memory, while calligraphy conveys poetic movement and cultural pride. The silk base adds luminosity and fluidity, making the scarf both a wearable artwork.
